Material and craftsmanship

The bowl and handle of this teaspoon are gold-plated, resting with a warm golden sheen on matte silver. At the end of the handle, a floral niello band continues – blossoms and vines in a botanical style, hand-engraved into the silver and fused with black niello. Niello is neither a color nor a coating; it is a black inlay that is ground flat and polished – like ink in silver; it does not fade. What is on this spoon today will look exactly the same in thirty years. SevChern, an active manufactory for this type of niello silver, has been working with this technique since 1933 – using over 15 production steps per piece.

Use and occasions

A silver teaspoon with niello and gold plating is not just any piece of cutlery – it is noticed when stirring, when set down, and when looked at. It is a perfect gift for a wedding, a birthday, or as a small token for someone who wants to style their tea table with genuine silver, and it is equally suitable for a golden wedding anniversary or a milestone jubilee. It can be ordered individually – as an addition, a replacement, or as the first building block of the Botanica collection, which can be followed by a cup, sugar bowl, and teapot. The complete Botanica tea set (SW10205, 23 pieces for 6 people) includes six teaspoons; individual spoons can be reordered at any time, for 1, 2, 4, 6, or more people. Let us know when you place your order, and we will coordinate the made-to-order production.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The back of the handle offers space for a personal engraving – initials, a date, or a short sentence. Ideal as a personalized individual gift; simply state your engraving request when ordering. Upon request, we can also include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm) – individually designed, suitable for the occasion, and free of charge.

Care

Clean the spoon by hand with lukewarm water and mild dish soap. Avoid dishwashers and silver dip baths. The niello ornament is permanently fused and will withstand normal cleaning; you should polish the gold-plated bowl only with a soft cloth. Store the spoon in its gift case.
