Description
A coffee set made of 92 5 sterling silver, high-polish finish, consisting of a classic turka — the Turkish mocha pot — with a traditional black turned wooden handle and a matching mocha spoon with a twig-shaped handle. Both pieces feature sculptural dragonfly figures as three-dimensional accents: two dragonflies on the sides of the turka's body, and one dragonfly crowning the spoon handle. We call this design "Libellula" — Latin for dragonfly. Delivered in a velvet-lined premium case, ready for gifting.

Material and craftsmanship
Both pieces — turka and spoon — are crafted from 925 sterling silver, meaning 92.5% fine silver, solid throughout. The surface is high-polish finished; the dragonfly sculptures are made of the same material and also have a high-polish finish: no gilding, no black inlays, no patination — 925 sterling silver in its classic appearance. The piece is entirely cast from 925 sterling silver; the handle and dragonfly are one single casting, not glued or soldered. You can feel the weight of the solid cast silver in your hand, and the fine modeling of the dragonfly wings is perceptible when held between your fingers. Important to know: Silver will tarnish over time in daily use due to a chemical reaction with sulfur compounds in the air. On high-polish pieces, this appears after a few months as a light yellow to gray tone, which can be restored to a mirror shine in minutes using a soft silver polishing cloth.
Usage and occasions
The turka is the traditional tool for Turkish, Greek, and Armenian mocha: bulbous shape, wide neck, and a long wooden handle used to heat the pot over an open flame. Water, very finely ground mocha coffee, and sugar are heated in the pot over a small flame until the foam rises, and then served in mocha cups — coffee preparation as a ritual, not a function. The mocha spoon with its small, teardrop-shaped bowl (approx. 5 ml volume) is precisely designed for this consumption, such as for sugar portions or skimming the foam. As a gift, the Libellula set is suitable for occasions where value and ritual meet: for a silver or gold wedding anniversary as a primary piece of silverware, for a milestone birthday for coffee lovers and collectors, for retirement in a leadership position as a lasting heirloom, or as a diplomatic corporate gift at the highest level.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Both pieces in the set can be engraved upon review: the bottom of the turka with discreet initials, a date, or a short dedication; the back of the spoon handle with initials or a monogram. The same engraving on both pieces acts as a connecting gesture, such as for a wedding date. We will discuss the font, depth, and position before execution; for high-value pieces like this, we recommend a sketch for approval in advance. As a personal addition, we also offer a complimentary SilberVerse card in photo format, 15 × 10 cm in landscape orientation, digitally customized for the occasion and recipient.
Care
After each use, you should rinse the inside of the turka immediately with lukewarm water, as coffee acids can otherwise attack the silver. Wipe the outside normally and polish dry with a soft cloth — no abrasive cleaners, no soaking in the sink. The wooden handle should not be submerged in water; a damp wipe is perfectly sufficient. It is best to store the set in the included case, ideally with anti-tarnish strips.
Frequently asked questions
What is a turka?
The turka, also called a cezve or Turkish coffee pot, is the traditional vessel for Turkish mocha — a bulbous pot with a wide neck and a long handle, made for preparation over an open flame. In Russia, Turkey, Greece, Armenia, and the Levant, it is the standard tool for classic mocha.
Is the turka induction-compatible?
No — 925 sterling silver does not work on induction because the material is not ferromagnetic. The turka is made for an open flame such as gas or classic charcoal; it can be used on electric ceramic hobs, but the traditional atmosphere is best enjoyed over an open flame.
What does the dragonfly motif mean?
In Russian culture, everyone knows the dragonfly from Krylov's fable "The Dragonfly and the Ant" as a symbol of carefree summer lightness. In the Western European silverware context, it stands for change, transformation, and grace — a doubly meaningful motif for the mocha ritual, representing both light movement and quiet enjoyment.
