Material and craftsmanship

The intertwined rings on this goblet are created using hand-engraved niello: engraved by hand into the silver and then filled with black niello—a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished, like ink in silver. The result is a contrast that does not wear off—deep black on polished silver, framed by floral scrollwork. The gilding on the upper rim and inside the goblet adds a third tone: gold, silver, and black united in one piece. The glass is created at the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, where niello silversmithing has been cultivated for generations—from hand engraving and niello fusion to the final polish, each piece undergoes several work steps before leaving the workshop.

The most obvious moment for this champagne flute is the first toast after the ceremony—at the reception, at dinner, in the instant the bride and groom raise their glasses. Afterwards, the goblet finds its place on the shelf as the first piece of family silver. Care

Hand wash only with warm water and a soft cloth; do not use a dishwasher. The hot detergent solution of a dishwasher will damage the gilding and should therefore be avoided. Do not scrub the interior gilding; instead, polish it gently. Niello remains dark on its own and requires no special care.
