Description
Taller than the Small version and still the slimmest of the four: This Hanukkiah solves a space problem that many only notice on the windowsill.

- Height approx. 68 cm, width approx. 42 cm — the slimmest of the selection
- Silver weight approx. 2.3 kg
- Slender baluster shaft, arms set lower
- Shammash elevated, with flame finial
- Zaramella Argenti, Padua — Manufacturer since 1948
Eight Nights, Nine Arms
During Hanukkah, one more light is lit each of the eight evenings — one on the first evening, all eight on the last. The ninth arm belongs to the Shammash, the "servant" used to light the others. Because it is not one of the eight, it sits elevated on the central shaft.
A Menorah, the candelabrum of the Temple, on the other hand, would have seven arms. The distinction is purely numerical and can be checked in seconds in any photo.
What Makes the Mini Design Special
The name is misleading: at approx. 68 cm, this Hanukkiah is taller than the Small version. "Mini" at Zaramella refers to the slender design, not the height — the same logic as with the Mini candelabrum in the line.
Two things visibly distinguish it from the others: The shaft is a narrow baluster instead of a robust vase, and the arms are set lower. This makes the arched structure appear more elongated, and the piece takes up less footprint for the same effect.
At 2.3 kg, it is also the lightest of the four. Anyone who sets it up for Hanukkah and then moves it will notice the difference.
All Four Side-by-Side
- this one, approx. 68 × 42 cm — slimmest design, lightest piece
- Small, approx. 65 × 43 cm — stronger shaft, round base
- Square, approx. 69 cm — square base, heaviest of the medium sizes
- the large one, approx. 76 × 50 cm — for community rooms and wide windowsills
Visible from Outside
Hanukkah has a custom that determines its placement: Pirsumei Nisa — the miracle should be publicized. The lights are therefore placed where they can be seen from the street: at the window or near the door.
For narrow windowsills, this version is the obvious choice. 42 cm width still leaves space on the left and right, which is especially important if curtains or a deep frame are in the way.
And the Rest of the Time
Eight evenings a year — the rest is idle time. Because this piece is slender, it finds a permanent place more easily than the wider versions: a console, a display cabinet compartment, the end of a sideboard.
The slender baluster comes into its own particularly well. Without candles, the piece reads as a play of lines — the concentric arches over a vertical shaft. This is an effect that no one expects from a ritual object and yet one sees it all year round.
Candles
Standard stick candles fit into the nozzles. For oil, specialist retailers offer glass inserts. Wax residues can be removed after brief cooling, without tools — silver is soft, any blade leaves marks.
Engraving
The base rim offers a continuous smooth zone. Because this model is often chosen as a gift for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, a name with a year is usually engraved there. We coordinate the size and placement in advance; we can include a SilberVerse card upon request.
Care
Hand wash with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly. Do not use a dishwasher. A thin cloth is suitable for the narrow arches, a soft brush for the chased base. The darker depth in the recesses can remain — it gives the ornament its plasticity. More in the guide on the care of silver cutlery and tableware.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it smaller than the Small version?
Only in width. At approx. 68 cm, it is even three centimeters taller than the Small, but one centimeter narrower. "Mini" at Zaramella refers to the slender design.
Is this a Menorah?
No. Seven arms would be a Menorah, the Temple candelabrum. Nine arms with an elevated Shammash mean Hanukkiah.
Is it stable?
Yes. The chased round base is wide and shifts the weight downwards, even when all nine candles are burning.
Is it kosher?
We carry silver utensils and describe their use — we cannot provide religious legal information. Your community can answer questions about ritual suitability.
Does it come in gift packaging?
Yes, in high-quality packaging from the manufacturer.
