Material and craftsmanship
The entire body of the box is covered in hand-engraved niello: large floral medallions alternate with dense fields of vines, all in black on silver with gilded contours. The domed lid mirrors the same ornamentation and features a gilded fleur-de-lis on top. The interior of the box is completely gilded. Inside sits a removable basket with a twisted handle, which can be used separately as a small trinket dish – on the bedside table for rings, or on the dresser for earrings. The set also includes a 925 silver bracelet with small egg charms, each egg featuring the same niello ornamentation as the box.
The set is crafted by the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug.
