Sparkling wine glass 925 silver niello floral ornament — Champagne flute 160 ml

Drinking champagne from a silver goblet changes the moment, not the taste. Silver is flavor-neutral, but the sensation in your hand is different: metal instead of transparent glass, a goblet that only reveals the color of the champagne as you drink. On the surface lies a diagonal floral ornament in hand-engraved niello, black on polished silver, with every line drawn by hand. The slender silhouette of this champagne glass corresponds to the classic champagne flute — just made of 925 sterling silver, without gilding.

Material and Craftsmanship

The ornament on this goblet does not run horizontally around the body as with most niello pieces, but diagonally: a diamond grid of floral medallions and floral scrollwork that winds around the goblet like a ribbon. Narrow niello bands frame the composition at the top and bottom. This diagonal guides the eye instead of holding it in place — a design choice that distinguishes this glass from classic horizontal niello patterns. Niello is a black inlay that is melted into the hand-engraved lines, ground flush, and polished – like ink in silver – creating a permanent bond with the silver – no print, no coating. Without gilding, the contrast between polished silver and black niello remains fully visible. Crafted in the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, where this tradition of hand-engraving has been maintained for generations.

Usage and Occasions

When clinking glasses after saying "I do," a silver goblet in the hands of the bridal couple looks different in every photo compared to crystal — and remains a keepsake afterwards. On New Year's Eve, the new year begins differently when the 925 silver glass with hand-engraved niello is raised. For a 25th, 50th, or any other milestone anniversary, a champagne toast from a silver goblet gives the moment the weight it deserves. The glass works as a single gift or as a pair for a shared toast.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Upon review, engraving on the base or the lower rim of the goblet is possible — initials, a date, or a short phrase. With a personalized order, we include a free SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed to suit the occasion.

Care

Hand wash only with warm water and mild dish soap; do not put in the dishwasher. Dry with a soft cloth and gently polish if necessary. Niello requires no special care other than protection from harsh cleaning agents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does silver change the taste of champagne?

No — 925 sterling silver is flavor-neutral. What changes is the perlage and the experience: the texture of the engraving slightly affects the bubbles, and since you cannot see the color, you focus more intensely on the taste.

Can you actually use the glass for drinking?

Yes, it is designed for that purpose. 160 ml is a standard champagne serving. After use, clean with warm water and mild dish soap; do not put in the dishwasher.

Is an engraving possible?

Upon review, on the base or the lower rim of the goblet — for example for initials, a date, or a short phrase.
