A bulbous silver bowl that opens widely at the top — broader than a flute, rounder than a coupe, set on an elegant baluster stem with a decorated foot. The cup features large fan-shaped medallions within diamond-shaped cartouches: stylized shell forms with niello hand-engraving and gold accents that make each medallion glow. Between them, filigree vines and geometric bands flow. The interior is fully gilded — a wine goblet for wine that deserves a special frame.

Material and Craftsmanship

The medallions on this goblet are not fine lines, but large, confident forms distributed across the entire cup. Each shell-fan cartouche takes up almost a third of the bowl's width and is framed by niello scrollwork. The gold fields behind the fans lend the motif a warmth that the cooler silver alone would lack — here, three materials work together: polished silver as the base surface, niello black for the linework, and fine gold as an accent. The theme is repeated in a smaller form on the foot: niello bands and small cartouches frame the gold foot ring.

Since each piece is individually hammered and engraved, the weight may vary slightly. With a piece weighing approx. 185 g, variations of a few grams are normal and a sign that this was not made by a machine, but by a silversmith. The goblet is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug in about 15 work steps.
