The teddy bear is crafted as a fully sculptural figure from solid 925 sterling silver and polished to a high shine — it sits frontally, with paws loosely resting on its belly, a large head, and round ears, in child-friendly exaggerated proportions. The silver figure is complemented by a pearl-white acrylic ring with mother-of-pearl shimmer, which is BPA-free and food-safe. The piece is manufactured by the Italian silver manufactory Zaramella Argenti.

Use and development

From about three months, the rattle serves as a grasping object, and from about four to six months — with the onset of the teething phase — the acrylic ring additionally takes on the function of a teething aid. The teddy bear as a motif has always stood for security, warmth, and childhood — a familiar image that invites babies to grasp and observe and reminds many adults of their own childhood. The combination of silver figure and acrylic ring offers two different tactile experiences in one piece: the cool, smooth silver and the softer grip of the ring.
