Description

A child is being baptized, and the family is looking for a gift that will fittingly accompany this special day—not only beautiful, but meaningful. Material and Craftsmanship

The handle tells a small story in silver, from top to bottom. At the very top is the gold-plated Orthodox cross with its three crossbars—the central symbol of redemption in Orthodox Christianity. Directly below, a guardian angel spreads its arms in relief silverwork, surrounded by sunbeams and delicate ornaments. The blue enamel is applied in multiple layers and fired at high temperature—it is firmly bonded to the silver, not painted on, and thus remains color-stable for years. The spoon comes from ArgentA's DoDo collection and is delivered in the characteristic DoDo gift box with a rainbow motif.

Use and Occasions

This spoon is intended for Orthodox baptism—the moment a child is received into the community of faith according to the Orthodox rite. In many Russian Orthodox families, it is also given as a gift at birth, often by grandparents, as a sign that faith is being passed on to the next generation. The guardian angel represents a very personal concept: In Orthodox tradition, every person receives a guardian angel at baptism who accompanies them through life. The blue enamel, in turn, is considered the color of heaven and the Mother of God in Orthodox icon tradition—often chosen for boys, although it is no longer a strict rule today. If you are looking for a gift for a girl, the rose-gold variant with the same motif is a better fit.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

The back features Orthodox scripture and embossing—there is no blank space for an engraving. Regardless, upon request, we include a personalized SilberVerse card in photo format (15×10 cm landscape) — individually designed, suitable for the occasion, and currently free of charge. You specify in your order who the card is for and who it is from, and we take care of the rest.

Care

Clean the spoon by hand with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. The dark patina that silver acquires over time can be refreshed with a silver polishing cloth—it can remain in the indentations of the relief, as it emphasizes the structure. Gold plating and enamel do not tolerate abrasive cleaners or silver dips. Not dishwasher safe. Store the spoon in the included DoDo box when not in use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the symbols on the spoon mean?

The gold-plated cross stands for redemption, the guardian angel for the divine assistance that every child receives at Orthodox baptism. The sunbeams and ornaments around both represent the light of Christ, the blue enamel for heaven and eternity.

Is the spoon intended for boys or girls?

The blue enamel is more commonly chosen for boys in Orthodox tradition. However, there is also a rose-gold variant with the same motif if you are looking for a gift for a girl.

Can the spoon be engraved?

No. The back features Orthodox scripture and embossing, leaving no blank space for an engraving. As a personal touch, we offer the SilberVerse card in photo format.
