Description

This 925 sterling silver baby rattle features a three-dimensionally shaped tiger in an upright sitting position as the rattle head, on a smooth, engravable silver handle. A gift for birth or baptism that symbolizes courage and protection — and becomes a lasting memory with a personal engraving. At approximately 14 cm long, the rattle is comfortably light for small hands.

At a glance

  • Material: 925 sterling silver, highly polished
  • Motif/Shape: Tiger in an upright sitting position, stick shape
  • Dimensions: Length approx. 14 cm
  • Weight: approx. 28 g
  • Handle: smooth, teardrop-shaped, suitable for engraving

Material and workmanship

The tiger is crafted as a three-dimensional figure in an upright sitting position, with round ears, distinctive stripes, and fine whiskers on the snout that can be individually felt. Inside the figure are small silver balls that produce a gentle, bright clatter when shaken. The smooth handle tapers downwards into an elegant teardrop shape and sits securely in the hand — a small eyelet ring at the transition to the handle allows for attaching a ribbon or pacifier chain. Manufactured by the Italian silver manufactory Zaramella Argenti.

Use and development

From birth, the baby rattle serves as a gripping and auditory object. The smooth handle is easy to grasp and promotes hand-eye coordination; the gentle clatter of the silver balls stimulates auditory attention. From about three to four months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves. The three-dimensional tiger invites tactile exploration: ears, stripes, whiskers, and paws offer different shapes for tactile perception.

The tiger stands for courage, strength, and protection. In Asian tradition, it is considered a guardian that wards off evil spirits and protects newborns. In Western symbolism, the tiger embodies the ability to forge one's own path — unswerving, self-confident, and with the strength to overcome obstacles. Giving a baby this tiger says: You are brave, you are protected, and you will find your way.

Occasions and target groups

A 925 sterling silver baby rattle is one of the classic gifts given for birth, christening, and a first birthday. For parents who want to give their child a symbol of strength — with the option to personalize it with an engraving. For godparents who want to give a lasting memento at a christening, the rattle becomes a personal document with a name and christening date. For grandparents who want to create an heirloom, solid silver lasts for generations. The tiger motif is gender-neutral and suitable for both boys and girls.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

The smooth handle of this rattle is ideal for a personal engraving — engraving on request; we are happy to advise you on the best placement. We also offer a free, digitally designed SilberVerse Card in photo format 15 × 10 cm (landscape) — individually tailored to the occasion, recipient, and sender.

Care

Clean the baby rattle after use with warm water and mild dish soap and dry it with a soft cloth. For light patina, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or abrasive cleaners — the rattle is not dishwasher safe.
