Description
Baby rattle 925 silver chamomile — spherical shape with floral handle and engraving area
This baby rattle, crafted from 925 sterling silver, features a large chamomile blossom in relief on a spherical rattle head. Finely sculpted petals unfold around a textured center, surrounded by curved leaves and organic tendrils that extend to the scalloped rim of the sphere. It is the only purely botanical motif in the Zaramella rattle collection—a flower instead of an animal, nature instead of fable. The stem is adorned with delicate floral decoration: small bell-shaped blossoms and leaves are scattered across its surface, culminating in a decorative floral ornament at the base. A smooth area between the embellishments provides space for a short personal engraving. A small jump ring at the junction of the sphere and stem allows for the attachment of a ribbon or pacifier chain. Made by Zaramella Argenti , an Italian silversmith from Padua that has been producing solid sterling silver with a mirror-polished finish since 1948 and is a supplier to, among others, the French luxury brand Christofle. A flower made of silver — for the most delicate phase of life.

Zaramella Argenti — Italian silver art since 1948
This baby rattle comes from the Zaramella Argenti manufactory in Padua, northern Italy. Since 1948, the Zaramella family has been crafting solid sterling silver in a tradition rooted in Venetian silversmithing. The chamomile ball rattle showcases a special aspect of Zaramella's artistry—because here, the focus is not on an animal, but on a flower.
- Botanical relief on a curved surface: The chamomile blossom on the curved sphere requires a special understanding of organic forms. Each petal must follow the curve without distortion. The structured center of the blossom, the finely drawn petals, and the organically undulating rim of the sphere—everything must blend harmoniously. The result: a relief that looks like a naturally grown flower from every angle.
- Invisible solder joints: Where the sphere meets the floral stem, no seam is visible — a remarkable achievement for two such organically shaped elements.
- Hallmark “30PD Z 925”: Each piece bears the official Zaramella hallmark — a verifiable mark of authenticity that guarantees 92.5% pure silver.
The sphere with chamomile flower relief — shape and detail
The rattle head is crafted as a polished silver sphere—but unlike the ball rattles with animal motifs, this one doesn't have a smooth rim, but rather an organically wavy edge reminiscent of a flower calyx. The surface features a large chamomile blossom as a central relief: broad, evenly spaced petals unfold in a star shape around a finely textured center—a round area with delicate dots that replicates the stamens of true chamomile. Leaves and floral motifs entwine around the main flower, covering the entire rim of the sphere.
Inside the sphere are small silver balls that, when shaken, produce a rich, round rattle. The spherical shape amplifies the sound and creates a more consistent tone than figurative rattle heads. The botanical surface offers a particularly rich tactile dimension: small fingers can feel the difference between the smooth petals, the textured center, the raised leaves, and the wavy edge—a landscape of shapes and textures on a single sphere.
The floral stem — bell-shaped flowers with an engraved field
The handle of this rattle differs from the baroque handles of other ball rattles. Instead of heavy ornamentation, it features a delicate, botanical decoration : small bell-shaped blossoms—like tulips or lilies of the valley—grow up the handle at regular intervals. At the bottom, there is a larger floral motif and curved leaf ornaments. The entire handle tells a story: from the large chamomile blossom on the ball, the motifs descend the handle—a unified design of ball and handle.
Between the floral ornaments is a smooth area suitable for a short, personal engraving. This area is smaller than on rattles with baroque handles—room for initials, a monogram, or a short date.

The smooth engraving area on the floral stem is suitable for short personal engravings :

Chamomile as a gift — what it represents
Chamomile is one of the most meaningful flowers you can give a newborn. It symbolizes healing, gentleness, and maternal care . This is no coincidence: the botanical name of German chamomile— Matricaria —derives from the Latin word mater (mother). Chamomile is literally the "mother plant"—for centuries the first plant mothers reach for when their child needs comfort.
In folk medicine, chamomile is considered a universal remedy: chamomile tea soothes, chamomile baths nourish, and chamomile oil provides relief. For babies, chamomile is a familiar companion from the very first days of life. Giving a baby a silver chamomile charm translates this care into a lasting symbol: You are cared for, you are healed, you are protected—not just today, but for a lifetime.
As a motif, chamomile is universal and gender-neutral. It carries no cultural or religious connotations. The white blossom with its golden center is a symbol of purity and innocence in every culture—qualities that perfectly suit a newborn. It is the only purely botanical motif in the entire Zaramella rattle range—a gentle alternative to the animal motifs, telling a different story.
Use and development
From birth, the baby rattle serves as a grasping and auditory object . Its spherical shape fits particularly securely in small hands—round and easy to grasp from all sides. Weighing approximately 25 grams, the rattle produces a clear, satisfying sound when shaken. From around 3–4 months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves. The chamomile rattle offers a particularly rich tactile experience: the wavy rim of the sphere, the petals, the textured center of the flower, the small bell-shaped blossoms on the stem—each surface feels different and promotes sensory development.
Note on cooling: 925 sterling silver has natural antibacterial properties. During teething, the rattle can be briefly stored in the refrigerator (not the freezer) — the cool silver has a soothing effect on irritated gums.

Care
Clean the baby rattle after use with warm water and mild dish soap. Dry with a soft cloth. For light patina, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient; a soft brush can be helpful for the fine grooves of the petals and the textured center. Do not use harsh cleaning agents or abrasives. Not dishwasher safe. The included Zaramella gift box is suitable for storage.
