The dragon is crafted using niello technique – a dark metal alloy is chemically and physically fused with the silver, no lacquer, no coating, but a permanent bond with the material itself. The dragon's body winds gracefully through the image field, the scales individually worked out, claws and whiskers finely drawn, with two stylized clouds above. The motif is set in a rectangular frame with a continuous leaf-tendril border, which gives the image a clear, almost graphic character.
