Material and Workmanship

The relief made of 925 Sterling Silver shows a bull's head frontally, with curved horns and a calm, direct gaze, underlaid by baroque acanthus volutes. The contours of the head, the shading on the nostrils and eyes, and the fine lines of the ornamentation are executed in Niello hand engraving: a dark alloy is melted into hand-engraved lines and chemically-physically bonded with the silver. This creates a clear depth effect — the bull protrudes plastically from the silver surface. The relief is mounted on deep red velvet matting, set in a dark brown wooden frame with a narrow golden trim inside.
