The guardian angel in light blue enamel

On the head of the handle sits a rounded angel with closed eyes and folded hands, with a gilded halo above. Above that stands a gilded cross, entwined with a curving band in light blue enamel. At the transition to the handle is a gilded sun with a spiral.

The Orthodox cross with cloverleaf ends

The surface remains polished — without enamel, without gilding. This is intentional, so the cross does not compete with the colorful spoon.

Hand-polished instead of rhodium-plated — what that means

Many silver items are given a wafer-thin layer of rhodium at the end to prevent tarnishing and to give the surface a cool-white appearance. The spoon and cross in this set are not rhodium-plated: they are hand-polished with cotton buffs to a mirror shine, nothing else.

Why is the silver not rhodium-plated?
Because the manufactory polishes the pieces by hand instead of coating them. The silver remains pure, shows its own tone, and will therefore tarnish over time. A polishing cloth restores the shine at any time.
