Corkscrew Wild Boar 925 Silver in Case — antique patinated

A wild boar with two piglets on a rustic branch-fork platform, cast from 925 sterling silver as a small genre sculpture — this corkscrew does not show a single animal figure, but an entire family scene from the deep forest. Whoever picks it up holds a piece of wildlife art with narrative depth rather than a purely decorative motif.

Material and craftsmanship

The wild boar and the two piglets stand on a rustically modeled branch-fork platform, all cast in 925 sterling silver. You can recognize the bristles as fine longitudinal lines in the back fur, the compact legs, and the characteristic head posture of the animals. The wild boar, piglets, and platform are antique patinated — a thin, superficial blackening that remains visibly dark in the recesses between the bristles and the wood grain, making the relief stand out plastically. At the same time, this layer acts as protection against further uncontrolled tarnishing.

This blackening is not paint, lacquer, or any form of coloring. It is also not niello — niello is a distinct Russian technique involving a fused-in black sulfur-silver paste in engraved grooves. This is a superficial, deliberately pre-aged coating. The high points can be carefully polished with a soft silver polishing cloth, while the recesses retain their depth and thus the relief.

Usage and occasions

This motif suits anyone who appreciates wildlife art with a story — for hunters and foresters as a wine companion for game cuisine or as a keepsake for fellow hunting ground members, for collectors of silverware with nature motifs, or as a meaningful gift for men for a milestone birthday, retirement, or anniversary. It also serves as an alternative to ordinary promotional items when gifted to business partners or clients with an affinity for nature. Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the sculpture show?

An adult wild boar with two smaller piglets, together on a rustic branch-fork platform. The composition is a compact family scene from the deep forest, not a single figure.

What does "antique patinated" mean here — is it niello?

No. Niello is a different Russian technique using a black sulfur-silver paste that is fused into engraved recesses. This is a superficial blackening that remains visibly dark in the relief's recesses and simultaneously protects against further tarnishing.

How heavy is the piece?

The silver weight of the corkscrew is around 70 grams. The entire set, including the case, weighs approximately 353 grams.
