Material and Craftsmanship

The pearl-white, semi-transparent acrylic ring serves as both a grasping ring and a teething aid. At the bottom edge, the silver shell hangs from a metal eyelet – with radiating ribs, a wavy serrated edge, and a mirror-finish polish that catches the light with every movement. When the baby moves the ring, the silver pendant gently swings against the acrylic, creating a soft, bright clinking sound. Manufactured by the Italian silver manufacturer Zaramella Argenti.

In the first few weeks of life, the ring primarily serves as a visual grasping object – the mirror-like shine of the pendant catches the light and draws the baby's attention. From about two to three months, the ring is actively grasped, and from about four to six months, it serves as a teething ring during the teething phase. The scallop shell carries deep symbolism: it stands for protection and security, as its shell halves surround and preserve the vulnerable inside – like an origin that is cherished.
