The cup has a smooth belly opposite the handle and a polished bottom — both areas are very suitable for engraving (name plus birth date, or a short dedication). For the birth spoon, instead of free engraving, the designated data fields on the handle are filled with the birth data — the handle itself is too narrow for additional engraving.
