Material and Workmanship
The silver pendant features a standing elephant as a fully sculptural figure - not a flat relief, but a small sculpture with volume and depth. It stands on four legs, with large ears and a compact, rounded body, entirely mirror-polished. The eyelet is on the back of the figure, allowing it to swing freely on the acrylic ring and produce a soft, bright jingle when moved. Manufactured by the Italian silver manufactory Zaramella Argenti.
Use and Development
From birth, the ring primarily serves as a visual object – the mirror-like shine and the distinctive silhouette with large ears and a curved trunk fascinate even newborns. From approx. 2 to 3 months, the acrylic ring becomes an ideal grasping object, and from approx. 4 to 6 months during the teething phase, an active teething ring: the smooth, cooling material soothes pressure on the gums.
The elephant symbolizes strength, wisdom, and above all, family cohesion. Elephants live in close family units that protect their young collectively – whoever gives a baby an elephant wishes them a family that sticks together and supports them. The upward-pointing trunk is also considered a sign of luck and prosperity. A profound symbol for the start of life.
Occasions and Target Groups
A gender-neutral birth gift, suitable for both girls and boys. Also suitable as a christening gift or godparent gift, especially for those looking for a motif with deeper meaning. During the teething phase, the ring also impresses with its practical teething function.
Care
Clean the acrylic ring with warm water and mild dish soap and dry it with a soft cloth – no aggressive cleaning agents or abrasive materials, not dishwasher safe. If necessary, clean the silver pendant with a soft silver polishing cloth; fine textures can be gently cleaned with a soft toothbrush. Store the rattle dry and protected from light.
