A brief history of the motiveless silver cup

Motiveless christening cups are not a modern minimalist statement. They are the classic form of the silver christening gift - as it was presented at bourgeois baptisms 100, 150 years ago. The family engraved the child's name and baptismal date, and the cup then passed from generation to generation.
