A tomcat, entirely graphic
Description
Silver baby rattle 925 tomcat: a sitting cat silhouette, cut thin and flat, without fur markings, only with dot eyes, muzzle lines and a leg line, with pointed ears and a tail that wraps around the body at the side. At approx. 12 grams it is one of the lighter pieces of this series. For an understated christening gift that does without playful details, this tomcat is the fitting choice.
For a Christening
A Calm Shape for a Festive Day
Some godparents are not looking for a playful animal motif but for a plain, graphic silhouette. That is exactly what this tomcat stands for.

Unlike most motifs in this series, the tomcat is not a solid body but a flat, smooth-polished silhouette. The outline follows the sitting cat shape down to the details – ear tips, the rounding of the head, the curve of the tail –, but the surface stays smooth-polished throughout, without applied relief. That makes for a much lighter piece than the fully sculpted figures of the collection.
Tomcat or Cat – Two Quite Different Animals
In our teething ring series there is also a cat with a bow: fully sculpted, with a blossom at her neck, weighing approx. 16 grams. The tomcat remains a flat, plain contour of approx. 12 grams – anyone who prefers the graphic silhouette chooses him.
Related in Shape: Tomcat and Lion
The same flat construction is found in the lion – both worked as a thin, graphic silhouette without a fur relief, which shows in the smooth, contoured surface. Even so, they are independent animals with their own outline: the tomcat stays plain, the lion wears a jagged mane edge.
Teething Ring, Ring or Handle – Where the Tomcat Has Its Place
Silhouette and acrylic ring together form a rattle for grasping and biting under supervision: the child grasps and bites the pearl-white ring while the silver motif hangs on the bar. Anyone looking for a rattle to hold will rather choose the engravable, smooth handle shape. A third form is the ring rattle made entirely of silver, without any teething element.
Caring for the Flat Silver Silhouette
Sterling silver darkens slightly over time – on the thin surface of the tomcat, a soft polishing cloth helps without attacking the fine contour edges. For the ring, a dampened cloth is enough; sharp cleaning agents are not needed. As a basic rule, baby toys such as this rattle belong exclusively in supervised children’s hands.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Tomcat Baby Rattle
Can the tomcat silhouette be engraved?
No. The contour is too small and cut out irregularly – ears and tail curve leave no continuous surface for a clean engraving. As an alternative there is the free SilberVerse card: a verse of three to four lines, created with the help of AI from your details about the name and the occasion, printed as a photo card of 15 × 10 cm in landscape format and framed, on request.
What is the teething ring for?
The smooth, pearl-white ring is for grasping and biting, and the tomcat hangs on it as a silhouette – always under supervision.
How does this silhouette differ from the fully sculpted cat?
The tomcat is a flat cut-out of approx. 12 grams without a jewellery detail. The cat, as a three-dimensional figure with a bow, weighs approx. 16 grams on the scales.
When is the tomcat the right gift?
For a birth, a christening or the first tooth. The ring is there for biting as soon as the first teeth come – with an adult staying close by.
Does the tomcat baby rattle have a hallmark?
The silver is hallmarked — the tomcat baby rattle bears a fineness stamp (hallmark). The piece comes with the maker's certificate card. If you would like to see photos before ordering, we're happy to send them to you.
