The double beaded rim — an ancient motif
The beaded rim is one of the oldest decorative elements in European silversmithing; it is found on Roman vessels as well as on 19th-century silverware. Its effect lies in the rhythm: a row of uniform hemispheres breaks the light at regular intervals and provides structure to a smooth surface.
On the Rome, it is doubled, framing the domed central surface like a brace. This gives the frame depth — it looks crafted, not punched out.
Material and workmanship
925 sterling silver, highly polished, hallmarked. The dome between the rows of beads is the real artisanal challenge: it must run evenly over the entire length; otherwise, the reflection will show waves. Crafted by Zaramella Argenti in Italy, since 1948.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
The domed surface between the rows of beads can accommodate an engraving — initials, a date, or a short inscription. We carry out engravings after assessment — please contact us before ordering so we can clarify placement and font size together.
