The icon depicts the Mother of God of Kazan, one of the most famous Marian images in the Orthodox tradition, in a silver-gold setting on pink velvet trimmed with a cord. The spoon complements the set as a practical counterpart: 925 sterling silver, featuring an enameled Guardian Angel medallion in shades of pink and red on the handle.

Material and craftsmanship

The icon is crafted in a silver-gold setting, with the motif rendered in fine shades of pink, silver, and gold, mounted on a padded velvet backing with a surrounding cord. The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver; at the top end of the handle sits a round, enameled medallion with a Guardian Angel motif in pink and red, and the shaft of the handle bears a delicate vine pattern. 925 silver consists of 92.5% fine silver.

Occasions and target groups

Intended as a gift for a baptism or the birth of a girl, especially in an Orthodox context where icons are traditionally given at baptism. The set is also a fitting choice as a gift from godparents or grandparents who wish to provide the child with a spiritual companion for the first years of life.
