Cocktail Glass 925 Silver Niello — Martini Bowl Hand Engraved 180 ml

The martini glass – shallow, wide-mouthed, instantly recognizable – is available here in 925 sterling silver. A narrow niello band of flowers and vines runs along the upper inner rim of the bowl, topped off by a delicate dentil frieze that completes the composition. The rest of the bowl remains polished, bare silver – cool, smooth, and free of distractions.

Material and craftsmanship

The restraint of this cocktail glass is intentional. While other stemmed glasses in the collection feature dense ornamentation across the entire bowl, this piece is limited to a single narrow niello band along the top rim – flowers and vines in deep niello black, cleanly framed and finished with a dentil frieze. The martini form thrives on its geometry: the wide opening, the clean line down to the stem, the small foot. Denser ornamentation would disturb these lines; instead, the narrow band provides an accent without overpowering the design.

Niello is an age-old inlay technique: motifs are engraved into the silver, then a black inlay is fused into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished – like ink in silver. It is not lacquer or paint, but a permanent fusion. The glass is crafted by the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug.

Usage and occasions

This bowl is the perfect vessel for classic cocktails: an espresso martini, a cosmopolitan, a gimlet, or an aviation. The niello texture on the rim provides a tactile accent while drinking. Champagne cocktails such as a Bellini or a French 75 also benefit from the wide bowl, which gives the bubbles room to rise. If you like, the martini glass can also serve as an elegant dessert bowl for a scoop of sorbet or a mousse.

For bar enthusiasts who take their home bar seriously, a 925 silver cocktail glass is the crowning touch of their collection. Gifted as a pair, it is perfect for a wedding – a toast for the evening. Paired with a bottle of gin or champagne, it also makes a thoughtful gift for a milestone birthday.

Care

925 sterling silver consists of 92.5% fine silver and is tasteless. Warm water is sufficient for cleaning. A soft cloth after use maintains the shine, and the niello contrasts deepen over time with polishing.
