Gift set 925 silver gold plated, niello - Astra Classic - 3 pieces

A gift set that encapsulates the signature style of the Astra Classic collection in three pieces: a teacup made of fine porcelain in a gold-plated 925 silver setting, a matching saucer made of solid 925 sterling silver, and a gold-plated teaspoon—each piece featuring the characteristic Astra niello ornament. You are not receiving a randomly assembled trio, but an ensemble from a collection, ready-packaged for the moment of gifting.

Material and Craftsmanship

This set is defined by the triad of porcelain, gold-plated 925 silver, and black niello. The teacup consists of fine porcelain embedded in a gold-plated silver setting with an Astra ornament—you see the white of the porcelain, while the handle and the rim of the setting shimmer in gold. The saucer and spoon are crafted entirely from 925 sterling silver, also gold-plated and decorated with the same floral niello pattern. Niello is the black deep engraving of the Russian silver tradition: a sulfide alloy that is melted into engraved indentations and forms a chemical-physical bond with the silver—not a lacquer or coating that will peel off. The contrast between the deep black and the warm gold only becomes more beautiful over the years, as the niello deepens its effect with regular polishing. The set is produced by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, where this technique has been practiced for centuries.

Use and Occasions

The cup holds 150 milliliters—a size that follows the Russian tea ceremony, where tea is brewed strong and served in smaller cups rather than diluted. That is precisely where the charm lies: you are not getting just any teacup, but a piece made for concentrated, slow enjoyment of tea. As a gift, this set is suitable for occasions where a small but complete ensemble speaks louder than a single piece—for a christening as a keepsake for later, for a tea lover's birthday, as a housewarming gift, or as an initial addition for someone starting to collect Russian tableware. The set also works as a small token of appreciation between colleagues or as a thank-you gift because it is ready-packaged and requires no further preparation.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Engraving is only possible for this three-piece set after verification. If you would still like to make the gift personal, we recommend our complimentary SilberVerse card in photo format, 15 × 10 cm in landscape orientation. It is digitally custom-designed to suit the occasion and the recipient and is included with the gift as a personal addition—a unique item to accompany the moment of presentation.

Care

The gold plating and niello on the saucer and spoon are not dishwasher-safe—please clean by hand with a mild detergent. Also gently wash the porcelain cup in the silver setting by hand to ensure the gold-plated frame is not damaged. You can refresh the shine with a soft silver polishing cloth, while the niello ornament retains its depth—on the contrary, the contrast becomes clearer with every polish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the cup dishwasher-safe?
No. The gold plating and niello on the saucer and spoon are not dishwasher-safe. Please use hand washing with a mild detergent.

Can I use the pieces individually?
Yes, all three parts can be used separately. However, conceived as an ensemble, the set only unfolds its full effect in the interplay of the cup, saucer, and spoon.

Does the set match the rest of the Astra Classic collection?
Yes. The teacup, teapot, sugar bowl, and cream jug from the same collection can be stylishly complemented, as they bear the same niello ornament and the same gold plating.
