The goldfish — motif and meaning
In many narrative traditions, the goldfish stands for wealth, hope, and fulfilled wishes – a motif that is particularly suitable for gifts intended to bring someone good fortune for the future. On the holder of this cup, it appears in rich detail in shades of pink and green, with scales and fins built up layer by layer in the finest enamel painting. The motif gives the cup a narrative quality that goes beyond its pure function as a drinking vessel.
Material and craftsmanship
The porcelain cup comes from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory St. Petersburg. The holder combines 925 sterling silver, copper, and a fine gilding, created using the traditional electroforming process: silver is built up in a galvanic bath on a wax model, which is then removed – this keeps the holder pleasantly lightweight despite its three-dimensional relief. The goldfish motif is implemented using the enamel filigree technique: the finest genuine silver wires form the contours along which the paint is applied by hand. Since every enamel drawing is created manually, each cup differs in small details from the next.
Usage and occasions
This cup is suitable as a gift for retirement, milestone birthdays, weddings, or as a token of appreciation for collectors and art enthusiasts. It is as suitable for parents, grandparents, and business partners as it is for friends with a sense of style and history – as an everyday item for daily coffee or tea, or as a decorative piece in the living or work area.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Engraving is not possible on the enamel holder, as the surface is too delicate for additional processing. As a personal addition, we offer an individually designed 15 × 10 cm SilberVerse card upon request – with your dedication, tailored to the occasion and the recipient, free of charge. Simply specify your wish in the order field.
Care
Clean the cup exclusively by hand, without a dishwasher. Use a soft cloth instead of abrasive cleaners to protect the enamel and gilding. Ideally, store the set safely in its original packaging.
