Material and craftsmanship
All eight pieces are crafted from 925 sterling silver, gold-plated, and adorned with the same niello paisley ornament — the teardrop-shaped, curved motif from the Persian-Indian cultural sphere, which has symbolized the tree of life, fertility, and abundance for centuries. Niello is a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished – like ink in silver; with every polish, the contrast to the polished silver becomes more distinct. The carafe has a teardrop-shaped silhouette with a bulbous knob and a hinged lid. The six schnapps glasses stand on gold-plated stems and each feature an oval niello medallion with the same paisley motif. The tray completes the ensemble with a wide gold rim and circumferential niello ornamentation. The set is made by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, where the niello tradition has been documented since 1683.
Usage and occasions
The set is suitable for those gathering for a special occasion: a silver wedding anniversary, a corporate anniversary, or as a prestigious gift for business partners and executives. The complete ensemble is also perfect for golden wedding anniversaries, milestone birthdays from 50 onwards, or retirement after a long career, as nothing else needs to be added — the carafe, six glasses, and tray arrive as a complete, self-contained gift.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Both the carafe and each of the six glasses can be engraved individually: on the carafe, for example, a monogram, a year, or a dedication line; on the glasses, initials or table numbers for a special event. For corporate gifts, a company logo on the carafe combined with initials on the glasses is a popular choice. Upon request, we can include a personalized SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape format), individually designed and free of charge.
Care
Wiping with a soft, lint-free cloth is sufficient for everyday care. No dishwasher, no abrasive cleaning agents, and no ultrasonic baths, as these can damage the gold plating. The niello is firmly bonded to the silver and will not come off. With careful handling, the gold plating will remain intact for decades.
