Gravy boat 925 silver Merchant Niello

Not the gravy boat for the center of the table, but the one for your own place setting: the Merchant gravy boat in 925 silver is, with its 40 ml capacity, the personal version for one person and one course. A wrap-around niello band of acanthus leaves and tendrils decorates the matte body, while the interior remains highly polished.

Material and workmanship

The Merchant consists of solid 925 sterling silver in a boat shape with a loop handle and a round base. The exterior is matte and features a wrap-around niello band with acanthus leaves and floral tendrils in a classic ornamental style – deep black on matte silver. The loop handle remains deliberately simple and unengraved, a calm counterpoint to the decorated body. The interior is highly polished, creating a clear contrast to the matte outer surface. Niello is a technique dating back thousands of years in which a black silver alloy is melted into engraved indentations, forming a permanent, chemical-physical bond with the base silver.

Use and occasions

With 40 ml, the Merchant is intended for a single portion at a place setting – about two to three spoonfuls of hollandaise, a portion of crème fraîche for salmon, a caviar sauce, or a dressing for your own plate. Instead of one large gravy boat for the whole table, this concept gives each guest their own small boat – practical for a festive dinner where different sauces are to be served with the same course. As a set of four or six pieces, the Merchant is a special wedding or anniversary gift for people who appreciate an attentively set table.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The base offers space on the underside for a personal engraving – a date, initials, or a short sentence. State your engraving request when ordering; the area will be individually coordinated with the workshop. Upon request, we will include a personally designed SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format – free of charge and a special, unique addition to your gift.

Care

Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild dish soap – no dishwasher, no silver dip. The niello band is fused and permanent; normal cleaning will not harm it. Clean the matte outer surface with a soft cloth without using scouring agents. You can refresh the polished interior with a silver polishing cloth if necessary.
