Gravy boat 925 silver Niello design 200 ml

A sauce boat that defines the table: The body of this 200 ml 925 silver sauce boat features a completely encircling Niello floral ornament in deep black on matte silver, while the interior remains high-gloss polished – a clear mirror in which the sauce rests. The loop handle, spout, and round pedestal base follow the classic sauce boat shape that has barely changed for centuries.

Material and workmanship

The sauce boat is made of solid 925 sterling silver and shows a completely encircling Niello ornamental band: large-petaled flowers with sweeping vines in an old Russian botanical style, melted into the matte silver in deep black. Niello is neither paint nor a coating, but a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, leveled, and polished – like ink in silver. In contrast, the interior is high-gloss polished – bare, ornament-free silver. The loop handle, spout, and round pedestal base give the piece its classic sauce boat shape, tried and tested for centuries.

Use and occasions

With a 200 ml capacity, the sauce boat is suitable for light sauces, vinaigrettes, butter sauces, light jus, or cold dips – it sits on the table during the meal, waiting to be used for second helpings. As a wedding gift, a silver sauce boat is a statement for the decades, not just for the first few years together. It is also a suitable choice as a gift for a golden anniversary, a milestone birthday for someone who cooks and appreciates table culture, or as a corporate gift for business partners. In a display cabinet, it also stands as an independent collector's piece.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The underside of the pedestal base offers space for a personal engraving – a date, initials, or a short sentence, visible only to those who turn the piece over. Specify your engraving request when ordering. Upon request, we will include a personally designed SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format – free of charge and a special, unique addition to the gift.

Care

Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild detergent – no dishwasher, no silver dip. The Niello band is melted in and permanent; normal cleaning will not harm it. The matte exterior surface remains beautiful if abrasive cleaners are avoided. You can refresh the mirror-polished interior at any time with a soft silver polishing cloth.

Frequently asked questions

Is this sauce boat suitable for hot sauces?

Yes, 925 silver is temperature-stable. Silver conducts heat well, so a hot sauce stays warm longer than it would in porcelain. For very hot preparations, we recommend a coaster to protect the table.

What distinguishes this sauce boat from silver-plated items?

Silver-plated tableware only has a silver coating over another base metal, which wears off over time. This sauce boat is made entirely of solid 925 sterling silver, and the Niello is melted in rather than applied – both will endure for generations.

Is a personal engraving possible?

Yes, the underside of the pedestal base offers space for a personal engraving. Specify your request – a date, initials, or a short sentence – when ordering.
