Unlike the simpler version, the gilding here is not just a narrow edge, but a continuous surface: if you look inside the ring, the interior is completely gilded, while the floral niello ornament runs across the outside of the ring with its usual delicacy. This interplay of dark pattern on the outside and warm gold on the inside makes the set a slightly more festive version of the motif. The included napkins pick up on the floral ornament in gold-colored embroidery and continue the color accent on the table.

Material and workmanship

The ring body consists of solid 925 sterling silver. The floral ornament is hand-engraved into the surface and filled with niello—a dark alloy that bonds chemically and physically with the silver instead of just being applied to the top.
