Material and craftsmanship

The handles of all 24 pieces are fully gold-plated and bear an identical relief floral pattern on the front and back — a sign of consistent craftsmanship, as simpler cutlery is often only decorated on the front. The bowls of the spoons and the tines of the forks are highly polished, while the knife blades are made of matte 925 silver and are functionally sharp. Unlike the niello versions of the Astra line, Astra Lux Gold intentionally omits the black inlay: the contours of the floral pattern stand out instead through light and shadow in the raised relief.
