Silver cutlery set 4-piece 925 Sterling silver gold-plated – Astra Gold

Four pieces made of 925 sterling silver, fully gilded with floral niello inlay in the handle: The Astra Gold 4-piece silver cutlery set consists of a dinner knife, dinner fork, tablespoon, and teaspoon. Bowls, tines, and the gilded handle parts bring a rich golden tone to the table, while a white field with a black floral ornament in the handle provides contrast. The knife blade remains silver and polished.

Material and workmanship

With Astra Gold, the gilding is not a small accent, but covers the bowl, tines, and large parts of the handle — only the knife blade deliberately remains silver and polished, because a gilded cutting edge neither cuts nor corresponds to the material. The handle features a white field with a floral niello ornament: a black enamel, hand-worked into fine engraved lines, which takes up and frames the rich golden tone of the surrounding edges.

Astra Gold is part of the product range of the SevChern manufactory from Veliky Ustyug, whose niello tradition has been documented since 1683. The cutlery set is hallmarked.

Use and occasions

The rich golden tone makes the Astra Gold set a conscious style choice for weddings, anniversaries, and milestone birthdays — wherever a table can show a little more sparkle than plain sterling silver. The set also works as a gift for collectors and lovers of Russian silversmithing, because the combination of gilding and niello inlay is rarely found so clearly in the product range. The 4-piece set covers the main course, dessert, and tea for one person.

Care

Clean the Astra Gold set exclusively by hand with warm water and a mild dish soap, then immediately dry with a soft cloth. The dishwasher is not suitable: aggressive cleaners and high temperatures attack both the gilding and the niello inlay and dull the shine. Store the pieces in the gift box or a cutlery pouch to prevent scratches on the gilded surface from other cutlery.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Astra Gold set be engraved?
Due to the full gilding and the niello inlay in the handle, subsequent engraving is not intended for this set. Those who wish to add a personal touch can instead use the free SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm landscape format — individually designed for you and included with the gift.

Is the set dishwasher safe?
No, please only hand wash. Dishwasher chemicals and heat harm both the gilding and the niello inlay.

What distinguishes Astra Gold from sterling silver sets like Snowdrop?
Astra Gold is fully gilded on the bowl, tines, and handle rim, while Snowdrop remains completely in sterling silver without a golden tone. Both share the floral niello inlay in the handle, but differ significantly in their color effect on the table.
