Material and craftsmanship

The entire decorative energy of this tray is concentrated in the handles. Two oval handle rings are positioned on the left and right, each attached to the surface with small rivets, and both are completely covered with niello flowers — stylized blossoms with foliage, placed tightly together with no exposed silver in between. The tray surface itself remains understated: matte brushed silver, with several concentric grooves that run from the outside in, guiding the eye without filling the surface with ornament. In the center sits a small oval medallion with a fine decorative stitch-frame — designed as an engraving area, currently featuring a delicate vine pattern. Niello is a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished — like ink in silver, not applied, permanent, and non-removable. On the handles of this tray, the ornament is particularly densely compressed: anyone holding the piece by the handles can feel the engraved depressions under their fingers.

Use and occasions

With a 244 mm diameter, this tray is larger than the 202 mm models in the series — enough space for a carafe with two glasses, a small tea service, or several aperitif glasses as an ensemble. The two handles make it secure to carry even when fully loaded. Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap; a soft cloth is sufficient. No dishwasher, no scouring powder, no silver dip. The niello handles are sensitive to abrasives — only lightly dab instead of using circular motions. The matte silver surface can withstand a standard silver polishing cloth for any tarnished areas.
