Tablespoon 925 Sterling Silver Gold Plated – Astra Non-Niello

The "Astra Non-Niello" table spoon is a gold-plated spoon made of 925 sterling silver, featuring a floral hand engraving on its handle and bowl without any niello inlay. Instead of the dark niello contrasts, it showcases delicate, fine lines that appear calm and clear on the fully gold-plated surface. Material and craftsmanship

The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and is fully gold-plated—the handle and bowl display the same warm gold tone. A floral hand engraving is applied to this surface: floral and leaf motifs that are carved into the silver by hand before the gilding is applied. Unlike the Astra variants with niello, this version omits the black inlay in the engraved lines. The result is a uniformly gold spoon where the pattern is defined by fine light and shadow edges rather than color contrast—calmer and lighter than its niello siblings from the same collection. It is crafted by a Russian silversmithing workshop rooted in the tradition of Veliky Ustyug niello art, which also masters the art of silver hand engraving without niello inlay.

Use and occasions

As a table spoon, this piece is intended for soups, stews, and main courses, proving its worth for both special occasions and elevated everyday dining. The gold-plated surface and floral engraving make it a suitable gift for a wedding, an anniversary, or as an addition to an existing set of silverware. The spoon is also well-suited as a single piece for collectors or as the first item in an Astra collection—it can later be complemented by further Astra pieces.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The floral ornamentation of this spoon is already part of the hand engraving and cannot be personalized subsequently. If you would like to give the gift a personal touch, you can have a SilberVerse card in 15 x 10 cm photo format included—customized to the occasion and the recipient, free of charge. This creates a gift with a personal dedication even without a name engraving.

Care

The spoon should be cleaned exclusively by hand using a mild detergent. We advise against using the dishwasher, as heat and chemicals can damage the gilding and the fine engraved lines. After washing, rub dry with a soft, non-abrasive cloth to maintain the gold luster.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Astra Non-Niello, Astra Gold, and Astra Classic?

Astra Non-Niello deliberately omits the black niello inlay and displays the floral engraving purely on the gold-plated silver. Astra Gold and Astra Classic additionally feature the characteristic dark niello ornamentation.

Is the spoon dishwasher safe?

No. Hand washing with a mild detergent and subsequent drying is the best way to preserve the gilding and engraving.

Does the spoon match other Astra silverware?

Yes, it can be combined with other pieces from the Astra collection, such as dessert spoons, dessert forks, or coffee spoons in the same design language.
