The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and is completely gold-plated — unlike partially gold-plated niello pieces, there is no silver-black contrast here, but a continuous golden tone. The hop motif is engraved into the bowl as a floral relief, and on the handle, it appears as a drawing with dark contours on a light background. The hop plant is a rare motif in silversmithing, giving the spoon its own distinct, recognizable character.
