Material and craftsmanship
The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and is completely gold-plated — unlike partially gold-plated niello pieces, it does not show a silver-black contrast, but rather a consistent golden tone. The hop motif is engraved into the bowl as a floral relief; on the handle, it appears as a drawing with dark outlines on a light background. The hop plant is a rare motif in silversmithing, which gives the spoon a unique, recognizable character.
