Coffee service 925 silver gold-plated hops 3 pieces

Not every coffee service needs six place settings. Sometimes a single, more consciously curated moment is enough: a coffee cup with a white porcelain insert in a delicate silver holder with a gold-plated handle, accompanied by a saucer with a wide niello ornamental band and a matching gold-plated coffee spoon. The Hopfen coffee set for one person, made of 925 sterling silver, is the most compact form of this collection — yet it showcases every one of its hallmarks.

Material and craftsmanship

The porcelain insert ensures the coffee retains its pure taste, while the silver holder with its gold-plated handle holds the cup securely and adds a touch of elegance. On the saucer, hop flowers and leaves twine in a wide band around the entire rim, framed by two gold edges — each line engraved by silversmiths and subsequently filled with black niello inlay, which is melted down, ground flush, and polished — like ink in silver. The coffee spoon is entirely gold-plated and features the same niello engraving on the handle. The cup holds 50 ml, the classic size for espresso or Turkish coffee. Together with the niello-decorated spoon and the opulent saucer, this creates a place setting that stands on its own as a work of art on the table. The SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug has been cultivating the niello technique since the 17th century.

Usage and occasions

Since the Middle Ages, hops have been a symbol of fertility, prosperity, and celebratory joy. In Slavic tradition, they represent festivities, hospitality, and the desire for a good, fulfilled life — the SevChern manufactory has incorporated this motif into its niello repertoire. A coffee set from this collection is perfect for occasions associated with indulgence and zest for life: birthdays for coffee lovers, weddings as a first shared set of tableware, housewarmings, or as a thank you to special hosts. You can expand the set at any time, as the Hopfen collection offers matching services for 2 and 6 people.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Custom engraving is possible upon review. Upon request, we will include a personalized SilberVerse card in a 15 × 10 cm landscape photo format — individually designed to match the occasion, free of charge.

Care

Please clean by hand only; no dishwasher, no harsh cleaning agents. We recommend a soft polishing cloth for the silver; the porcelain can be cleaned separately with mild detergent.

Frequently asked questions

What is niello silver, and where does this technique come from?
Niello is one of the oldest techniques for finishing silver. A black inlay is melted into engraved ornaments, ground flush, and polished — like ink in silver — creating a permanent black-and-silver contrast. The SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug has been practicing this technique since the 17th century.

Why does the cup have a porcelain insert?
The porcelain insert is neutral in taste, ensuring your coffee or tea tastes exactly as it should. The silver cup holder provides a decorative frame and ensures stability — a combination typical of Russian silverware.

Can the Hopfen collection be expanded?
Yes, there are matching services for 2 and 6 people, as well as individual saucers and spoons from the same collection.
