Coffee service 925 silver gold-plated hops 6-piece

Some gifts say "thank you for being there" without a word. This 925 sterling silver coffee set is one of them. Two cups, two saucers, two spoons—each piece refined with niello ornamentation and subtly gilded on the rim and handle. In Russian silversmithing, the Hop Collection represents a very distinct visual language: floral vines that lie in dark contours across the silver, while the gold accent on the handle and rim provides warm points of light. It is not a loud piece, but one that only fully reveals itself upon a second glance.

Material and craftsmanship

The silver body of the cups and saucers is engraved and inlaid with niello—a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished—like ink in silver. Unlike a lacquer finish, niello does not sit on top of the metal, but within the engraved lines. It does not peel off, it does not fade—it actually becomes more expressive over time because polishing deepens the contrast between the dark ornament and the polished silver. The rim and handle of the cups feature partial gilding, which provides a warm accent against the cool silver and the dark niello. Silver, gold, and niello side by side—three qualities that support one another in this set rather than competing.

Usage and occasions

A coffee service for two is always a small story about togetherness. This set is suitable for an espresso in the morning as well as for a mindful coffee moment in the afternoon—it is intended for use, not just for the display cabinet. As a gift, it is particularly suitable for:

• Weddings — as a symbol of sharing coffee in a new everyday life together
• Anniversaries — a piece that remains while much else fades
• Christmas — as a primary gift for a couple or for one's own parents
• Special birthdays — for people who rarely treat themselves to something special

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Individual engraving is possible upon review—a date, initials, or a short sentence turns the set into a personal gift. Upon request, we can also include a SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format: individually designed, appropriate for the occasion, free of charge. Each card is created specifically for you—simply state your request when ordering.

Care

Clean the set by hand with warm water and a mild dish soap. You should avoid a silver dip bath, as it could attack the niello inlays. For the polished silver surfaces, a soft silver polishing cloth is sufficient occasionally; you do not need to work on the niello ornaments themselves aggressively. Store the pieces in the gift box or a closed case—this protects them from tarnishing. By the way, with every polishing, the contrast between the dark niello and the bright silver does not weaken, but becomes clearer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the coffee service suitable for daily use?
Yes. The cups are designed for espresso or strong coffee, the niello is heat-resistant and abrasion-resistant—this set is intentionally made for use, not just for looking at.

Is an engraving possible despite the niello and gilding?
Individual engraving is possible upon review. We will coordinate with the manufacturer exactly where it can be applied to suit the respective piece.

How does niello differ from a normal engraving?
With a simple engraving, the pattern is only cut into the surface. With the niello process, a black inlay is additionally fused into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished—like ink in silver. The contrast remains permanent because the niello sits in the lines and not just on the surface.
