Material and Workmanship

The capercaillie stands in an oval niello medallion on the front of the hip flask, surrounded by dense floral tendrils in black on polished silver. The back shows the same floral niello ornament without a figurative motif — pure tendrils that make the capercaillie on the front the main star. The screw cap with safety chain sits at the top, a practical detail that holds the lid in place when pouring.

The shot glass features an elegant niello wave band in the middle and floral engraving at the top rim — conically shaped, designed for pouring from the hip flask and for toasting. The small silver funnel has a niello band at the rim and a handle for holding, so the hip flask can be filled cleanly without spilling — a detail that shows this set is thoroughly thought out.
