Material and Workmanship

The centerpiece of the set is the flask made of 925 sterling silver with a capercaillie motif in niello hand-engraving — the capercaillie is one of the more well-known motifs in Russian forest hunting. Also included are three round silver plates with cross-shaped dividers, which allow multiple dishes to be arranged on one plate simultaneously, as well as three shot glasses, three dinner spoons, and three dinner forks made of 925 silver. A hunting knife with a wooden handle and matching additional tools complement the set, along with three high-quality cloth napkins. The niello engraving on the flask is created using a silver-copper-sulfur alloy, which is melted into the engraved lines over an open flame and then permanently bonded with the silver.
