The podstakannik is cast from 925 sterling silver, meaning 92.5% pure silver – solid, not plated. The Perov scene runs around the holder as a plastic high relief: the older hunter in a sweeping narrative gesture, the skeptical middle hunter, the young, spellbound third – each figure individually sculpted, plus the vegetation of the clearing and the prey on the ground. The depressions of the relief are antiqued, a superficial blackening that enhances the contrast between raised and recessed surfaces and makes the scene appear three-dimensional. This patination is not niello – niello is a fused sulfur-silver paste, the typical technique of the SevChern manufactory. This is a superficial coating that does not flake off in everyday use. The handle features classic acanthus ornamentation for a secure grip. The accompanying "Prestige" teaspoon is in the classic sterling silver style: a rocaille cartouche with an acanthus frame at the stem end, an empty oval initial field in the middle, the stem with fine acanthus accents, the bowl classically teardrop-shaped. The spoon also has antique patination in the relief depressions of the cartouche. The set also includes a cut crystal glass with a classic vertical facet cut, which sparkles in the podstakannik when light falls on it and illuminates the high-relief scene from within. 925 sterling silver tarnishes over time in everyday use – a natural reaction with sulfur compounds from the air. With the podstakannik, this is evident as follows: the reflective raised surfaces become slightly duller, while the patina deepens in the relief depressions, making the Perov scene appear even more three-dimensional. The raised surfaces can be refreshed at any time with a soft silver polishing cloth without affecting the depressions. The holder and spoon should be cleaned by hand, with warm water and mild dish soap – no dishwasher, no abrasive sponges. The crystal glass can tolerate more: wash separately and dry with a soft cloth. The included case is suitable for storage, ideally with anti-tarnish strips.
