Material and craftsmanship

The body of the coupe consists of solid 925 sterling silver — no plating, no filler material, but the alloy through and through. In the lower third of the wide, shallow bowl, an ornamental band of large flowers with fanned leaves and a spiral center, along with acanthus leaves and curved scrollwork, is featured. This design is created using niello, one of the oldest metal techniques in the world: a dark alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur is melted into hand-engraved lines, forming a chemical-physical bond with the base metal. The result cannot be rubbed off and does not fade — on the contrary, the contrasts deepen with every polish. The stem and foot remain deliberately unadorned: polished silver, allowing the ornamental band to take center stage. The foot has concentric grooves that give the piece additional stability. SevChern in Veliky Ustyug has been producing these niello works since 1683 — a manufacturer with long experience in this technique.

Use and occasions

160 milliliters is the classic size for a single portion: Mousse au chocolat, vanilla sorbet, panna cotta, or zabaglione find enough room to spread out in the wide coupe shape, with the broad rim allowing an unobstructed view of the dessert. Care

After use, hand wash the coupe with warm water and a little mild dish soap — not in the dishwasher. The niello is chemically bonded to the silver and is completely food-safe: no lacquer that peels off, no color that fades. If the silver tarnishes over time, which is natural, a soft silver polishing cloth is sufficient. The niello ornament will not be damaged — on the contrary, the contrast between black and silver becomes clearer with each polish. Store the piece dry, preferably in the accompanying gift box.

Yes. 925 sterling silver is heat-stable and conducts heat well, which makes the coupe suitable for zabaglione or flambéed fruits. Please do not use in the oven or microwave.
