Material and Workmanship

The candlestick is made of 925 sterling silver, the goblet features a paisley band with Niello hand engraving – droplet-shaped ornaments in black on silver, complemented by gold accents. The base and candle plate are gold-plated and frame the polished silver stem like a warm frame around a picture. The candlestick is crafted in the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, where the same Niello technique has been cultivated for generations. The paisley pattern is deliberately kept simple: it doesn't dominate a table; it complements it.

Use and Occasions

A standard taper candle (Ø 22 mm) fits into the gold goblet; the wax drips onto the gold plate and is easy to remove. Two Svetlica candlesticks to the left and right of a silver carafe create a dinner table that needs no further embellishment. On the mantelpiece or dresser, a single candlestick provides a quiet accent that transforms the room without being loud. Svetlica is also suitable as a christening candle holder or wedding candlestick – simple enough for the church, elegant enough for the celebration afterwards. Two candlesticks are available as a pair for symmetrical placement upon request.

Care

Carefully remove wax residue from the plate and goblet, then polish with a soft cloth. Do not put in the dishwasher. Treat gold-plated surfaces gently; do not use abrasive cleaners.
