Material and Workmanship

A single niello medallion sits on the bowl: a symmetrical floral motif in a triangular cartouche, above it a narrow ornamental band with tendrils. The rest of the bowl remains polished silver with a gold rim. This restraint is a deliberate choice: at 110 ml, a dense full-surface ornament would disrupt the proportions. The medallion gives the chalice character, the polished silver gives it serenity. It is manufactured by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug using the same niello technique as the larger chalices in the line – just more subtly applied to the surface.

Among the larger chalices in the line, this 110 ml chalice is the entry point: the most compact piece with full SevChern quality.

Usage and Occasions

110 ml is not a wine glass volume, but a liqueur measure: a volume that doesn't drown a cognac, concentrates a dessert wine, and perfectly presents a grappa. At 141 mm in height, the chalice is handy without appearing small – the stem fits well between the fingers. Clean with warm water and a soft, lint-free cloth; do not put in the dishwasher. A silver polishing cloth is suitable for the polished surfaces; the niello medallion should not be aggressively cleaned. Stored in the gift box, the shine is maintained.
