Material and craftsmanship
The carafe and both cups feature the same continuous ornament: blossoms and vines in hand-engraved silver, filled with niello and fused in an open flame. In between, bold gold accents provide unique highlights—gold-plated flower centers, gold-plated borders on the rims of the cups, and a lid knob on the carafe crafted entirely in fine gold. This triple gilding is among the most elaborate designs in the SevChern assortment: gold on top, gold on the bottom, gold in the flower centers, with the cups also fully gold-plated on the inside—every gold element is set individually. Niello is neither paint nor a coating, but a black inlay fused into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished—like ink in silver—becoming more contrast-rich with every polishing. The set is produced by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, where the niello tradition has been documented since 1683.

A silver carafe is not brought out for everyday use, but for special occasions—filled with water, wine, or liqueur and placed on the table. The two cups are intended for two people pouring for one another. This set is intended for occasions where a gift is meant to be a statement: for a golden wedding anniversary after 50 years, a diamond wedding anniversary after 60 years, a major corporate anniversary, or as a prestigious gift for a bridal couple. Care
Hand wash only with lukewarm water, then dry immediately. No dishwasher, as it damages the gold plating, and no silver dip bath, as it dissolves the fine gold layer. For the polished silver surfaces on the outside, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient for light tarnishing—the niello remains dark on its own and does not require separate treatment.
