The gilded hinged lid with its onion-shaped knob cites Persian architecture. The Paisley motif itself has Persian-Indian roots and stands for the tree of life and the eternal cycle — an aesthetic tradition that reached Europe via the Silk Road and continues to live on in Russian Niello craftsmanship today. The gilding on 925 silver is durable with proper care: not with abrasive agents or in the dishwasher, but with a soft cloth and occasional polishing, the shine will be preserved for many years.
