Material and workmanship

The two-headed eagle with outstretched wings, tsarist crowns on both heads, scepter and orb in its talons, has symbolized Russian sovereignty since the 15th century. On the medallion of this teapot, it bears a breastplate with Saint George. What you see here is not a printed graphic: the engraver works the relief line by line directly into the silver, the background of the medallion is gilded, the eagle itself remains polished silver and thus stands out clearly.

Niello is not enamel and not lacquer, but a metal alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur, which is melted into the engraved ornaments and forms a solid, chemical-physical bond with the silver. The result is durable, 100% food-safe, and does not become duller with the years, but more expressive — with each polish, the contrasts deepen. Care

A soft cloth is sufficient for daily care. No abrasive cleaners, no ultrasonic cleaners, no aggressive silver polishes — the gilding and niello inlays are robust but sensitive to mechanical stress. Inside, rinse the pot with warm water after use, without scrubbing. The silver becomes more beautiful the more often it is cared for, and the niello contrasts deepen with each polish.
