Material and craftsmanship

The two-headed eagle with spread wings, tsarist crowns on both heads, and scepter and orb in its talons has represented Russian sovereignty since the 15th century. On the medallion of this teapot, it carries a breast shield depicting Saint George. What you see here is not printed graphics: the engraver works the relief line by line directly into the silver; the background of the medallion is gilded, while the eagle itself remains polished silver, thereby standing out clearly.

Niello is neither enamel nor lacquer, but a black inlay that is melted into the engraved ornaments, ground flush, and polished — like ink in silver. The result is permanent and does not become duller over the years, but rather more expressive — with every polish, the contrasts become more deeply defined. Care

A soft cloth is sufficient for daily care. No abrasive agents, no ultrasonic cleaners, no aggressive silver cleaners — the gilding and niello inlays are robust but sensitive to mechanical stress.
