The band is hand-engraved and filled with niello: a dark metal alloy that is melted down and chemically and physically bonded with the silver. The ornament does not sit on the silver; it lies within the silver — insoluble, permanent, and without any possibility of fading.

Care

Hand wash with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. No dishwasher, no silver dip baths — the gold-plating would suffer. The niello band is permanently fused and can withstand standard cleaning without issue.
