This coffee spoon made of 925 sterling silver is gilded and decorated with colorful enamel in filigree technique – one of the most elaborate decoration techniques in Russian enamel art. Material and Craftsmanship

The colorful fields on the handle are not a print: In the filigree technique, fine silver wires are bent into a pattern, soldered, and thus form small, closed cells. Colored enamel is then applied and fired into these cells. On this spoon, a floral pattern is created with cells in shades of green, red, and white, each bounded by a fine silver bridge. The gilding of the rest of the spoon provides a warm frame around the colorful decor.
