Material and craftsmanship

The bowl, stem, and back of this teaspoon are fully gilded – a more elaborate execution than partial gilding. The back of the bowl features a floral relief engraving with a central blossom, entirely in gold and briefly visible when stirring. The handle also features a hand-engraved niello floral inlay: the black silver-copper-lead-sulfur alloy is melted into fine engraving lines and chemically-physically bonds with the silver underneath – permanently, not merely applied. This creates a triple contrast of highly polished gold, matte surfaces, and deep black niello, crafted in the SevChern Manufactory.

The spoon is fully gilded and has a hand-engraved niello inlay in the handle. Additional engraving would damage the gilding and disrupt the existing design. The niello flower in the handle is already the signature of this spoon.
