Tea set for 6 people 925 gold-plated sterling silver — Botanica

Twenty-three pieces, one style: The “Botanica” tea service fully sets a table for six people, transforming it into something that goes beyond mere function. Every cup features a gold-plated handle, every spoon lies in gold, the teapot takes center stage with its niello band — and everything, from the lemon fork to the creamer, follows the same principle: 925 silver, gold plating at the contact points, and a niello ornament on the body. Not a collection of assorted items, but a service from a single source.

Material and craftsmanship

What distinguishes the Botanica collection from the all-silver niello services is the gold plating. It is not applied as a flat coating over the silver, but exactly where it is seen and felt: the handle of the cup feels golden in the hand, the rim where the lip meets the edge is golden, and the interior of the milk jug, which the guest sees when pouring, is as well. In between lies the niello ornamental band, deep black on matte silver. This triad of warm gold, deep black, and calm matte silver is the result of three techniques that converge on every single piece: gold plating, the niello fusion process, and the matting of the base silver. Niello itself is not a modern finishing technique, but a black inlay that is melted into engraved lines, leveled, and polished — like ink in silver — durable, without any plating. Each piece of this service undergoes at least 15 individual work steps at the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, where this technique has been practiced since the 17th century.

Use and occasions

The 23-piece set for 6 people is a complete starting point: cups, saucers, spoons, teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug, sugar spoon, and lemon fork — everything is present, everything is coordinated. The Botanica collection is not a rigid set, but a modular system: upon request, the service can be assembled for any number of people — for two, four, eight, or twelve — because every individual piece can be ordered separately. As a gift, this service is suitable for a silver or golden wedding anniversary, a corporate anniversary, a milestone birthday, or for occasions where a VIP gift is required. For collectors of Russian tableware, a complete gold-plated niello service of this scale is also a rare addition.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

There is no specific engraving area defined for this service — data gap. We clarify engraving requests individually with the manufactory before the order is placed. As a personal addition, we offer a complimentary SilberVerse card in photo format, 15 × 10 cm in landscape orientation, digitally customized for the occasion and recipient — a unique item that accompanies the gift.

Care

Hand wash only with lukewarm water and mild dish soap — no dishwasher, no silver dip, as both will damage the gold plating. You should never treat the gold-plated areas on handles, rims, and interior sections with abrasive cleaners. The niello band is permanently fused and will not be damaged by normal cleaning. You can refresh the matte surfaces with a soft silver polishing cloth. It is best to store the service in its gift case between occasions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I also order the service for 2 or 4 people?
Yes — the 23-piece set is the example for 6 people. By arrangement, we can assemble the Botanica collection for any number of people, as every individual piece is available separately.

What is included in the set — and what is not?
The 23-piece set is complete: 6 cups, 6 saucers, 6 teaspoons, 1 teapot, 1 sugar bowl, 1 milk jug, 1 sugar spoon, 1 lemon fork, and gift case. Furthermore, all Botanica individual pieces can be ordered separately if you wish to expand the service later.

How does this service differ from the niello service without gold plating?
The Botanica service features gold plating at all contact points — handles, rims, and the interiors of the teapot and milk jug. A niello service without gold plating is kept entirely in silver — with a clearer and cooler effect. Both bear the same niello ornament on matte 925 silver.
