A wreath of fully bloomed sunflowers in black niello encircles the carafe's belly, with individual petals meticulously crafted and seeds engraved as a fine grid, framed by delicate tendrils. The sunflower represents heliotropism—the ability to turn towards the sun—and has been a symbol of gratitude and devotion for centuries. As the only explicitly summery motif in the carafe assortment, it brings a bright, joyful touch to the table.

Material and Craftsmanship

In the niello technique, indentations are engraved into the silver and then filled with a dark sulfur alloy. This mass chemically bonds with the silver—no stickers, no lacquer, no paint that can peel off. The black is permanently embedded in the metal and becomes more beautiful over time: each polish deepens the contrast between bright silver and deep black. The carafe is manufactured at the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, where up to 15 work steps are involved in a single piece—shaping, soldering, grinding, engraving, inlaying, firing, polishing.

480 ml is the right size for a set table for two or four—not a display object, but a table jug for water, juice, or wine. The open spout without a lid is quicker to hand than a carafe with a stopper, and the S-handle fits comfortably in the hand.
